Today I’ve realized a few things about this world we are all in/ trying to get to.
Firstly, the players we think are making decisions often are a cog in the wheel. There are so many things that need to happen before you land your dream placement, yes, having the supervisor on your side rooting for you is great BUT it’s far from all the parts. There is a show runner, a director, a coordinator (in ads), an editor, and you know what? Probably a lot more people who need to give your Indian drum and bass track it’s approval.
So trying to reach one person for your dreams to be realized would be crazy, because as we said in the first point- your moroccan Indi psyrock banger needs to go through a spotting session with 5 more people in the room at times.
So this would lead me to the second point: you need to be so good and so easy to communicate with, that these supervisors who know you (that are a fan of your music most likely) pass your song to the editor, who has already used your tracks before, and onto the director who also bumped your track in their daughter’s wedding.
Now this may sound crazy and way too demanding but this is what I’ll tell you for sure- this industry is small as hell and people want to work with people who they trust. Do you know who they trust? You guessed it. They trust who they know, and if they know you, you’re in luck. Well not in luck, you’re in the 1% of people who actually are genuinely going for it in this business.
And this leads us to this weeks episode
